In 2004 Georg Olms Verlag began publishing Jean-Baptiste Lully. Œuvres Complètes, the first critical Complete Edition of the works of Jean-Baptiste Lully (1632, Florence – 1687, Paris), edited by Jérôme de La Gorce and Herbert Schneider. The edition will comprise 39 volumes with 2 supplementary volumes. It is divided into six series comprising Ballets et mascarades (11 volumes), Comédies-ballets et autres divertissements (6 volumes), Opéras (16 volumes), Motets (5 volumes), Œuvres diverses vocales et instrumentales (1 volume), and Iconographie des Œuvres de Lully et nouvelle édition du catalogue thématique (2 volumes). For each title there is a linen bound full score with libretto and Critical Commentary, as well as performance material comprising vocal scores (paperback) and the individual parts. These are available on hire from Alkor Edition throughout the world.
Of the stage works which are at the heart of Lully’s output, important works such as Alceste, Armide, Isis and Thésée, comédies-ballets including Le Bourgeois gentilhomme, George Dandin, Monsieur de Pourceaugnac, the Tragi-comédie Psyché and ballets (Ballet des Saisons, Ballet royal de Flore) and church music (Jubilate, Te Deum, Miserere, Benedictus and Dies irae) are now available.
