Major events with music by Philipp Maintz

For Aachen-born composer Philipp Maintz, the new year begins with an impressive series of world premieres and first performances that will take place not only in his native city. Works by the “Composer-in-Focus” include “red china green house” for orchestra on 1 January 2025 in Aachen and on 5 January in the Kölner Philharmonie. Furthermore, the world premiere of the orchestral work “ariadne faden” will be performed on 16 and 17 February 2025 in Aachen under the baton of Marc Niemann. Another world premiere is coming up in Cologne: a long-planned project, “jag die hunde zurück!” for six sopranos and six percussionists after Ingeborg Bachmann, will now take place on 20 January, commissioned by the Kölner Philharmonie. At the “Ultraschall” festival in Berlin on 19 January, “upon a moment's shallow rim” for violoncello and large orchestra will be performed by Johannes Moser (violoncello) and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin conducted by Markus Poschner – together with Charlotte Seither's “zu welcher stunde” for chamber orchestra.
